Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy

Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) pairs a prescribed dose of ketamine with psychotherapy. I offer it in Goodlettsville, mostly for people who have already done real work in therapy and have not gotten the relief they hoped for. I handle the therapy. A medical provider handles the ketamine.

Two ways to do KAP, and what each costs

Getting started looks the same either way: a basic eligibility and safety screen with me, a KAP consultation, then a medical intake with Journey Clinical. If they find you medically eligible, you choose a pathway.

Pathway A: Full KAP treatment course

For people who want a structured KAP process over four to six months.

  • 1 to 3 preparation sessions
  • 8 dosing sessions
  • An integration session after each dose
  • A Journey Clinical follow-up after the first 2 doses
  • A final consolidation session
Estimated costs
Journey Clinical $720
Therapy, about 25 hours at $155 $3,875
Estimated total $4,595

Pathway B: KAP added to ongoing therapy

For people who want KAP as an addition to regular therapy.

  • 1 to 2 preparation sessions
  • The first 2 dosing sessions
  • An integration session after each dose
  • Then we reassess together: pause KAP, continue regular therapy, or expand into the full 8-dose course
Estimated costs
Journey Clinical $362
Preparation $155 to $310
2 dosing sessions $620
2 integration sessions $310
Estimated total $1,447 to $1,602

These are estimates for education only, and actual costs may differ. If you decide to go ahead, you will get a Good Faith Estimate with exact costs. Journey Clinical handles medical screening, prescribing, refills, and medical follow-up. I provide the preparation, dosing support, and integration.

What is Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy?

KAP combines the rapid-acting effects of ketamine with the deep, transformative work of psychotherapy. During a KAP session, a low dose of ketamine is administered under medical supervision, creating a state where you can more easily access and process your inner thoughts and emotions. The combination of ketamine with therapy has been shown to be more effective than ketamine alone.

How it works here

  1. We start with ordinary therapy. I need a couple of sessions to understand what you are working on and whether KAP makes sense for you at all.
  2. If it looks like a fit, I refer you to Journey Clinical for a full medical assessment. Their medical team decides whether ketamine is appropriate for you, writes the prescription, and monitors you. That decision is theirs.
  3. Dosing sessions happen in my office on Tuesday or Wednesday afternoons. They run considerably longer than a standard session, and you will need someone to drive you home.
  4. We meet again afterward to make sense of what came up. This part matters more than the dosing session itself, and skipping it wastes the work.

What to know before you ask about it

Who KAP is not for

KAP is not for someone with a history of psychosis or who is currently experiencing a manic episode. A family history of either may also rule someone out when Journey Clinical does its medical assessment. Final medical eligibility is their decision.

If you are considering it

The honest first step is a conversation, not a booking. Tell me what you have already tried and what you are hoping will be different, and I will tell you whether I think KAP is worth exploring in your case or whether something else would serve you better.
